Amanda Lister, MA
Pre-doctoral Internship
Amanda Lister, M.A. is a sixth year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology with Health Emphasis program. Her primary research interests involve treatments for obesity and binge eating disorder (BED). Amanda's predoctoral research project involved examining changes in test meal intake among obese binge eaters following a CBT treatment for weight loss. Current dissertation research aims to compare Intermittent Fasting (IF) to Continuous Energy Restriction (CER) in an overweight and obese population on various aspects including weight loss, mood, quality of life, and satisfaction.
Astrid Phillipson, MA
Pre-Doctoral Internship
Astrid is a 5th year student in Dr. Swencionis' research lab currently on internship at The New York Harbor VA, Brooklyn Campus. Her pre-doctoral research project examined the effects of participant’s dieting histories before and after a behavioral weight loss intervention. Her doctoral dissertation will explore the relationship of participants age of their first diet attempt and their use of disordered eating behaviors to short-term and long-term weight loss within a 12-month behavioral weight loss intervention.
Jayen Duncan, MA
Pre-Doctoral Internship
Jayne is a 5th year student in Dr. Swencionis' lab currently on internship at Rutgers University Student Health Center. Her research focuses on the use of intuitive eating as an intervention for young women with subclinical disordered eating. Her predoctoral thesis, "Intuitive Eating, Psychological Flexibility, and Food Choice in Women with Disordered Eating: A Pilot Web-Based Intervention", tested a novel intervention promoting intuitive eating in a sample of participants with disordered eating in a randomized controlled trial. Her dissertation, "Intuitive Eating and Dietary Quality in Women with Disordered Eating: Longitudinal Analyses of a Pilot Web-Based Intervention", aims to assess long term effects of learning to eat intuitively on dietary quality, and effects of psychological flexibility on this relationship.
Adina Nenner, MA
4th Year PhD Student
Adina is a 4th year student interested in the relationship between self-esteem and romantic relationships in the context of different weight groups. Her master's thesis focused on this relationship in the Orthodox Jewish Community. Adina's dissertation will build upon her master's thesis, and include the relationship between self-efficacy, self-esteem, and weight group in the Orthodox Jewish community.
Ellie Lichtman, MA
4th Year PhD Student
Ellie is a fourth-year student interested in the relationship between neuropsychology and eating disorders. Her master’s thesis focused on the executive functioning skill of inhibitory control in individuals who engage in binge eating. Ellie’s dissertation will build upon her predoctoral research, examining the relationships between inhibitory control, binge eating, and mindfulness.
Bruria Jofen, MA
4th Year PhD Student
Bruria is a fourth-year student interested in the development and treatment of eating and weight disorders. Her predoctoral research examined the role of impulsivity and diet self-efficacy in the quantity of diet attempts. Current dissertation research aims to examine obesity etiology, assessing the feasibility of obesity classification by eating behaviors to better inform treatment.
